Building Renovation for Dairy Process Expansion

In a recent renovation project we converted office space into a dairy process room while the existing operations continued. In order to complete the room renovation work and minimize its impact on current day-to-day operations, isolation barriers (aka hoarding) were installed. This allowed for existing walls, ceiling and floors to be demolished and new ones installed, according to dairy food process requirements.  In order to avoid ventilation and air flow issues throughout the building while renovation went on new air distribution ductwork was installed to address any air quality issues without any production interference.  All work was completed on schedule and within budget while meeting all Canadian Food Inspection Agency and building code requirements.

Improved Plant Functionality and Safety

Safety has been a big concern for us throughout a project of re-organizing a plant floor. We re-organized a section of the plant to meet current safety codes and most importantly promote a safe environment by installing additional safety barrier to control the flow of traffic. Throughout and after completion we worked diligently with our contractors and client to ensure their expectations were met while remaining cautious and aware of our budget and schedule. The key with a project like this is to investigate any issues and be there at the front line to understand and recommend the best options.

Packaging Machine Safety Improvements and Platform Installation

While performing a Pre-start health and Safety Review (PSR) by Cemcorp, some concerns where identified and we were requested to make the necessary improvements.  Often, the addition of more safety guards and interlocks can make it more difficult to operate and maintain the machine.  After observing the machine operation and collaborating with the machine operators we were able to propose changes that improved the maintenance and operation of the packaging machine while also resolving the safety issues identified during the PSR.

One of the improvements included installation additional access platforms around the machine. The new platform had to be connected to some existing platforms and during a platform installation, a problem arose with the structural integrity of the existing platform.

Our associates at Cemcorp re-engineered the design and we installed the improvements to improve safety and longevity of the platform. Installcorp’s project manager used careful planning and scheduling which allowed us to complete the work in a timely manner.

Electrical Upgrades

Most recently Installcorp has been helping a client with the installation of permanent electrical upgrades to their 600V and 4160V power distribution system. Scheduling has been a very big part of this project to ensure that the installation work is completed on time and within budget while having a minimal impact on plant productivity. We have been working with the contractors and our client to ensure seamless communication while completing what may seem like an endless list of tasks. Through our careful planning and organizational strategies, all aspects of the project are being completed in an efficient manner without anything being overlooked.

Upgrades or installations can easily be seen as a luxury or things that can wait or be put aside. However, we can work with you and your company’s specific needs every step of the way from design all the way to installation and finishing touches. We look forward to what types of projects this new year will bring and how else we can help our clients achieve all that they set out to do.

On behalf our entire Installcorp Ltd. team, we would like to wish you a happy and prosperous New Year!
